It's taken me a while to get nowhere in particular, and I can't say I've arrived. The death of my father and the birth of my son have shaken loose the stories I've been collecting and the thoughts I've kept to myself. I've often felt split in two. I have two names trying to coalesce their contradictions into one identity. Karuna Wessels is a combination of both.

I'm a Hare Krishna with Afrikaner heritage, raised in a diplomatic family split between North America and South Africa. I studied medical science but can't claim to be a scientist. I do art sometimes but can't claim to be an artist. I'm a mother.

I live near Cape Town, South Africa.

I write because I love it.

Karuna Wessels

A tentative look at the evolution of a new mother, a good helping of spirituality, and a touch of the esoteric. I support em dashes and Oxford commas.
